So Good They Can't Ignore You by Cal Newport

Deepak Shukla’s Notes So Good They Can’t Ignore You by Cal Newport:

Hey guys,

I finished reading this book on the 10th of January 2021.

Here’s a synopsis of the book I grabbed from Amazon:

“In an unorthodox approach, Georgetown University professor Cal Newport debunks the long-held belief that “follow your passion” is good advice, and sets out on a quest to discover the reality of how people end up loving their careers. Not only are pre-existing passions rare and have little to do with how most people end up loving their work, but a focus on passion over skill can be dangerous, leading to anxiety and chronic job hopping. ”

And here are my actual notes I took whilst I was listening to this on Audible:

  • 2 small bets a month?
  1. Make b2c cold email work
  • Chase deliberate practice
  1. 4 hours a day
  • When committing to brain work do this
  1. No matter what I’ll keep working on it for one hour even if I faint
  • How to approach problem solving

  3. Make these rapidly and often
